The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has acquired the NASA-ISRO SAR (NISAR) satellite tv for pc from the U.S. house company. NISAR is a Low Earth Orbit observatory collectively developed by NASA and ISRO.
“Touchdown in Bengaluru! @ISRO receives NISAR (@NASA -ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) on a @USAirforce C-17 from @NASAJPL in California, setting the stage for final integration of the Earth observation satellite, a true symbol of #USIndia civil space collaboration. #USIndiaTogether,” the U.S. Consulate General Chennai tweeted on March 8.
According to ISRO, NISAR will map your entire globe in 12 days and supply spatially and temporally constant knowledge for understanding adjustments in Earth’s ecosystems, ice mass, vegetation biomass, sea degree rise, groundwater and pure hazards, together with earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and landslides.
NISAR carries L and S dual-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which operates with the Sweep SAR method to realize giant swaths with high-resolution knowledge. The SAR payloads mounted on Integrated Radar Instrument Structure (IRIS) and the spacecraft bus are collectively referred to as an observatory.

Last month, NASA mentioned since early 2021, engineers and technicians at Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Southern California have been integrating and testing NISAR’s two radar techniques — the L-band SAR offered by JPL and the S-band SAR constructed by ISRO.
The U.S. house company had mentioned the SUV-size payload can be moved right into a particular cargo container for a 14,000-kilometer flight to Bengaluru.
The closing integration of the satellite tv for pc might be carried out on the U.R. Rao Satellite Centre in Bengaluru, and ISRO is trying to launch the satellite tv for pc in 2024 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.
