An enormous fireplace early Monday in a police headquarters in northeastern Egypt injured not less than 25 individuals, officers mentioned.
The blaze ripped via the multistory police headquarters within the Suez Canal province of Ismailia, two officers mentioned.
At least 25 individuals, most of them law enforcement officials, have been injured and brought to hospitals, they mentioned. Most of the injured suffered burns and respiratory difficulties.
The officers spoke on situation of anonymity as a result of they weren’t licensed to temporary media.
It was not instantly clear what number of police have been within the constructing on the time of the blaze, which severely broken the constructing based on native media.
Videos circulated on social media confirmed flames and black smoke pouring from the constructing.
The reason for the blaze was not instantly recognized. The state-run MENA information company mentioned firefighters managed to place out the fireplace.
Safety requirements and fireplace rules are poorly enforced in Egypt and have been linked to many deaths.
In August 2022, a hearth erupted in a packed Coptic Orthodox church throughout morning providers in Cairo, killing 41 worshippers in one of many nation’s deadliest fires in recent times.
