    Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on June 15 mentioned that the federal government is taking all doable steps to make sure security of girls athletes, hours after the Sports Authority of India (SAI) issued a directive, making it necessary for NSFs to incorporate girls coaches within the groups.

    “The awareness campaign about doping and women’s safety have been introduced in both Khelo India Youth Games and University Games.

    “Regarding girls’s security measures, we are attempting not solely to problem pointers however to go on these to each sportsperson in order that they don’t seem to be uninformed and so they can defend themselves and their dignity,” Mr. Thakur told reporters on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of six world-standard squash courts at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi.

    SAI’s decision came close on the heels of two harassment complaints by female athletes against their respective coaches.

    A female cyclist had recently accused chief coach R K Sharma of “inappropriate behaviour” in Slovenia and had also filed an FIR against him. The coach was sacked and is facing a detailed investigation.

    A female sailor had also complained that her coach made her “uncomfortable” throughout coaching journey in Germany though she didn’t time period it as sexual harassment.

    Besides, the NSFs have additionally been requested to nominate Compliance Officer (male & feminine) in any respect nationwide teaching camps and international exposures.
