    Hundreds of individuals participated in ‘Jala Deeksha’, an agitation organised by the the Rayalaseema farmers’ unions on Tuesday demanding building of the Siddheswaram Weir, and raised slogans in opposition to the ruling courses for ignoring the irrigation water wants of the area.

    The Planning Commission had accredited the Siddheswaram venture method again in 1952, however that didn’t materialise.     The protestors demanded speedy building of reservoirs on Gundrevula for Ok-C Canal and reservoir on Vedavathi for Tungabhadra Low Level Canal because the politicians have been protecting silent on stabilisation of those initiatives, regardless of solely 40% to 45% of the anticipated space getting water.

    “The parallel High Level Canal from Tungabhadra reservoir is essential for Anantapur and Chittoor in addition to modernisation of the existing HLM Canal,” stated Mr. Dasaratha Ramireddy.
