With enough police safety, eight members of a Dalit household from Huvinahlli village in Shorapur taluk have entered into Anjaneya temple in Amalihal village in Hunsagi taluk of the district and carried out a head-shaving programme of their youngster.
Earlier, there was sturdy resistance by the higher group individuals from Amalihal village to Dalit’s entry into the temple. Following this, individuals from the Dalit group submitted a petition to the Kembhavi police and sought safety to them whereas getting into temple and programme household programme with none concern.
On May 27, C.B. Vedamurthy, Superintendent of Police visited each villages’ individuals and held a peace assembly and defined to them the rights of each citizen to carry out puja and in addition warned of authorized motion if anybody obstructed Dalits. “On Saturday, police brought the Dalit family members in a police vehicle from Huvinahalli village to Anjaneya temple in Amalihal and allowed them to perform puja to god and also conduct a head-shaving programme of their child,” police sources stated.
Department has deployed three Circle Inspectors, 10 Sub Inspectors, 150 Civil Constables and two every platoon from District Armed Reserve and Karnataka State Reserve police forces on the spot and dealt with the state of affairs peacefully.
“Presently, the situation is under control and police security is continued in both the villages,” Dr. Vedamurthy instructed The Hindu.
Circle Inspectors Doulat Kuri, Sunil Mulimani and Bapugowda are within the village preserve shut vigil on state of affairs.
