Himachal Pradesh Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Saturday bestowed the Gandhi Mandela Award on Tibetan religious chief Dalai Lama in a ceremony organised by the Gandhi Mandela Foundation in McleodGanj.
Mr. Arlekar stated the Dalai Lama was “perhaps the most deserving person in the world today” for the award and known as him a “universal ambassador of peace”.
His ideas of non-violence and compassion are required in right this moment’s world as these are more practical than any military. The Dalai Lama has taken ahead the centuries-old tradition of goodwill, compassion and love, he stated.
Congratulating the Gandhi Mandela Foundation, he stated solely the Dalai Lama had the potential to develop into a world citizen after Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela as he was not sure by borders.
Accepting the award, the Dalai Lama stated non-violence and compassion had been important for world peace and these ideas had been ingrained in Indian tradition for 1000’s of years.
“Any problem cannot be solved by war but through dialogue and peace,” he stated.
Earlier, former Chief Justice of India Okay. G. Balakrishnan stated the Dalai Lama was the saviour of a big group and the youthful technology should observe his teachings.
The Gandhi Mandela Foundation promotes the values and beliefs of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela within the curiosity of world peace and freedom. The award recognises world leaders who encourage residents for peace, unity and freedom.
