The Congress is ready to carry its first mega rally in Karnataka earlier than the summer season elections for the Assembly with Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi addressing it in Belagavi on Monday.
Party leaders Randeep Singh Surjewala, D.Okay. Shivakumar and Satish Jarkiholi visited the venue, the College of Physical Education Grounds, on Club Road right here on Sunday to take inventory of the preparations for the rally.
The occasion leaders mentioned that three to 4 lakh individuals are anticipated to show up for the occasion.
Mr. Surjewala mentioned that Mr. Gandhi will launch the occasion’s fourth assure card, Yuva Kranti Card, which is a part of the occasion manifesto that guarantees a spread of measures for youth, if the occasion have been to return to energy.
With the Belagavi rally, the Congress will just about kick off its marketing campaign within the State. It hopes to enhance its probabilities in Karnataka, particularly within the 110 seats within the northern area.
Party leaders say that it’s going to deal with these seats the place the BJP will not be assured of profitable, other than specializing in areas thought-about conventional Congress strongholds.
Belagavi was chosen for a couple of very important causes, they are saying. With 18 Assembly seats, it has the second largest chunk of seats, after Bengaluru.
BJP MLAs have been elected from 13 of the 18 Assembly constituencies in Belagavi. Three of them are seats held by defectors, Ramesh Jarkiholi, Srimant Patil and Mahesh Kumthalli.
The rising affect of Ramesh Jarkiholi, seen as an outsider to the Sangh Parivar fold, has been detested by some outdated timers within the district BJP unit. It isn’t any secret that the Belagavi BJP is vertically divided between the factions led by Ramesh Jarkiholi and Laxman Savadi, former Deputy Chief Minister.
The demise of senior chief Umesh Katti and former Deputy Speaker Anand Mamani have dented the affect of the BJP in Belagavi. The Congress is pinning its hopes on Hukkeri and Saundatti, the seats vacated by these two leaders.
Mr. Satish Jarkiholi [KPCC working president] even invited Leader of Opposition within the Assembly Siddaramaiah to contest from Saundatti, although the latter has not accepted it. There is even hypothesis of the previous MP and Umesh Katti’s brother Ramesh Katti becoming a member of the Congress and looking for election from the Nippani seat, now held by Shashikala Jolle, a member of Basavaraj Bommai’s Cabinet.
