Rapid response groups of the Animal Husbandry division (AHD) on Saturday culled 5,928 geese at H5N1-hit Ayaparambu Pandi in Cheruthana grama panchayat.
Besides geese, 9 different birds inside the 1-km radius of the hotspot have been culled to maintain the virus at bay. Carcasses of the culled birds have been burned as per the usual working process.
Officials stated the hen culling operation had been accomplished and mopping could be performed on Monday.
