Ms. Ebrahimi, 41, received for “Holy Spider”, wherein she performs a journalist making an attempt to unravel the serial murders of prostitutes within the holy metropolis of Mashhad.

“I have come a long way to be on this stage tonight. It was not an easy story,” she advised the viewers on the awards ceremony.

She stated she had been “saved by cinema”.

“It was humiliation but there was cinema, it was solitude but there was cinema, it was darkness but there was cinema. Now I’m standing in front of you on a night of joy.”

“Holy Spider”, directed by Danish-Iranian Ali Abbasi, is impressed by the true story of a working-class man who killed prostitutes within the early 2000s and have become referred to as the “Spider Killer”.

Abbasi was denied permission to movie in Iran and it was in the end shot in Jordan.

Ebrahimi grew to become a star in Iran in her early twenties for her supporting function in considered one of its longest-running cleaning soap operas, “Nargess”.

But her life and profession fell aside shortly after the present ended, when a intercourse tape was leaked on-line in 2006 which, it was claimed, featured her.
