The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday mentioned with impact from October 1, no entity within the card transaction / cost chain, aside from the cardboard issuers and / or card networks, can retailer CoF (card on file) knowledge, and any such knowledge saved beforehand have to be purged.
The RBI made clear that as enough time had elapsed for the reason that necessities had been specified, there can be no change within the efficient date of implementation of the necessities.

“This data shall be used only for settlement of such transactions, and must be purged thereafter,” the RBI mentioned in a round.

“Appropriate penal action, including imposition of business restrictions, shall be considered by the RBI in case of any non-compliance,” the central financial institution added.
